Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a naturally occurring glycoprotein hormone composed of alpha and beta subunits and is commonly studied in reproductive and endocrine research. Its biological activity is mediated primarily through the luteinizing hormone/choriogonadotropin receptor (LHCGR). Research applications include investigations of gonadal signalling, steroidogenesis, reproductive physiology, and hormone-receptor interactions.
